Azerbaijan’s SBS prevents drug smuggling from Iran

As part of measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and fight against smuggling and illegal circulation of drugs, the employees of the State Border Service (SBS) prevented the smuggling of drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports citing SBS.

On August 12, at 2:30 p.m., s were discovered by the border guard in the service area observed signs indicating a violation of the state border from Iran to Azerbaijan on the border outpost of the “Goytepe” border detachment of the State Border Service located near Chakhirli village of Imishli district.

As a result of the border search and operational measures, a total weight of approximately 16 kg 675 grams of narcotic-like substances (3 kg 170 grams of “opium,” 13 kg 505 grams of “marijuana”) was discovered in 8 parcels in 1 bag hidden near the state border line and seized by the border guards.
