Sheki: Azerbaijan’s Sheki Court on Grave Crimes has sentenced Elkhan Ibrahimov to seven years of imprisonment for his involvement with an illegal armed group abroad. The court trial, initiated by the State Security Service, concluded with the verdict announced by Judge Khalig Mammadov.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ibrahimov faced charges of joining an illegal armed group in a foreign country, participating in its military training camps, and taking part in the armed protection of the group. The court found him guilty under Articles 12.1, 218.2, and Articles 12.1, 279.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The charges included participation in a criminal association and involvement in the creation of armed groups or formations not sanctioned by legislation. The court’s decision highlights the legal consequences of engaging with unauthorized armed organizations abroad.
