Tehran: A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, arrived in Tehran, Iran, on July 3 to participate in the farewell ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. At Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport, the Azerbaijani officials were received by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, and Ali Alizada, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delegation proceeded to the Mosallah Complex in Tehran to attend the solemn event. During the ceremony, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova met with several Iranian officials, including Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly. She conveyed the condolences of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the Iranian leadership.
The Azerbaijani delegation was composed of notable figures such as Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov, and Jabbar Musayev, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, among other officials.
