Azerbaijan’s Special Forces Honor 2016 April Battle Martyrs

A commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the 2016 April battles and in memory of servicemen who became martyrs during those battles was held in one of the military units of the Special Forces, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry informed AZERTAC. The event began with a moment of silence to honor the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and compatriots who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, followed by the performance of the National Anthem with a military orchestra.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Commander of the Special Forces, Patriotic War Hero Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, addressed the attendees, noting that the 2016 April battles marked the beginning of subsequent victories under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander. These victories include the Gunnut operation, the Tovuz battles, the Patriotic War, and anti-terror operations, leading to an overall triumph.

&l t;P>Speakers at the event emphasized the readiness of Special Forces personnel to execute any combat mission upon the orders of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, ensuring the country's security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. Family members and relatives of martyrs expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the Ministry of Defense leadership for their attention and care.

Participants and public representatives discussed the historical significance and causes of the April battles, highlighting the professionalism and bravery of Azerbaijani soldiers who delivered significant blows to the enemy. The event also featured an artistic segment with a documentary screening about the April battles and performances of patriotic musical compositions by soloists from the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov.

The ceremony concluded with a memorial meal in hono r of the martyrs, prayers for their souls, and the presentation of gifts to the guests, followed by a photo session.
