Azerbaijan’s State and Government Officials Pay Tribute at Khojaly Genocide Memorial

Baku: Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev, along with other state and government officials, have visited the Khojaly genocide memorial on the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy. The officials placed flowers at the memorial and honored the victims of the Khojaly massacre.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, on the night of 25-26 February 1992, Armenian armed forces attacked the city of Khojaly with the support of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of the former USSR. The assault led to the brutal massacre of the civilian population. A total of 613 residents, including 63 children and 106 women, were killed. Additionally, 1,275 people were taken prisoner and subjected to torture, while the fate of 150 individuals remains unknown. The tragedy resulted in the complete destruction of eight families, with 25 children losing both parents and 130 children losing one parent.
