Azerbaijan’s State Budget Deficit Projections for 2026 Revealed

Baku: Azerbaijan's state budget deficit is anticipated to reach AZN 1 billion 497.6 million by the close of 2026, as reported by the Ministry of Finance to APA-Economics. The financing strategy for this increased deficit involves leveraging funds from domestic borrowing, utilizing the available balance of the single treasury account, and drawing on remaining funds from targeted budget funds. By the end of the current year, the deficit is projected to constitute 1.1% of the nation's gross domestic product.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the forecast also includes expectations for the consolidated budget's non-oil base deficit. It is projected to be 17.5% of the non-oil GDP by year-end, a decrease from the 18.8% forecast for 2026. This projection indicates a strategic effort to manage the country's fiscal health while balancing the demands of non-oil economic activities.
