Baku:Azerbaijan's state-guaranteed debt has decreased by AZN 2 billion 482.4 million during the first nine months of 2026, as reported by the Ministry of Finance. The debt reduction was highlighted in recent figures provided by APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the total amount of state-guaranteed debt stood at AZN 7 billion 886 million as of October 1. At the beginning of the year, this figure was AZN 10 billion 368.4 million, indicating a 23.9% decrease in debt volume.
At the end of the reporting period, external state-guaranteed loans accounted for AZN 4 billion 857.8 million, or 61.6% of the total debt, while domestic state-guaranteed loans made up AZN 3 billion 28.2 million, or 38.4%. The ratio of state-guaranteed debt to GDP also declined from 8% at the start of the year to 5.7%.
The Ministry of Finance attributed the decrease primarily to the repayment of USD 2 billion worth of foreign currency-denominated bonds issued by Southern Gas Corridor CJSC under a state guarantee.
