Azercell Backs TEDxBaku “Disruption” Event Featuring Global and Local Experts

Baku – The recent TEDxBaku “Disruption” conference garnered support from Azercell, the leading mobile operator in the region. This year’s conference witnessed participation from over 150 attendees and featured 14 speakers, both from Azerbaijan and abroad.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Among the prominent figures who took to the stage were Billura Bayramova Bernard, a native of Lahij who is now based in Angola focusing on cultural and social projects; Natig Bagirov, a renowned world and European champion in sambo and judo; Sinan Oghan, a Turkish political figure and one-time presidential candidate; and Tomris, who heads the American-Azerbaijani Society.

According to the details provided, TEDxBaku holds the distinction of being the inaugural TED-licensed event in Azerbaijan and has been held consistently since its inception in 2010. Standing apart from other TEDx formatted gatherings, the official TED conferences showcase global personalities who have made notable strides in their respective professions and lives. The TED platform, an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, Design, has been a focal point for experts from diverse domains since 1984. Pioneering scientific and technological milestones of their respective eras have been the highlight of TED discussions. In a glimpse into its rich history, the maiden TED conference spotlighted the introduction of the “Macintosh” computer and the compact disc by “Sony”, alongside discussions on concepts that are now ubiquitous, such as artificial intelligence. The TED platform has been graced by influential figures like former US President Bill Clinton, Nobel laureate James Watson, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt of Google, film director James Cameron, and renowned scientist Stephen Hawking.

In line with its commitment to foster youth development in the nation, Azercell reiterated its pledge to extend support to pivotal social projects in the future.
