BAKU: The leading mobile operator of the country, ‘Azercell Telecom’ LLC, proudly announced its partnership as the official Telecom Partner for the COP29 conference. According to Trend News Agency, Zarina Zeynalova, CEO of ‘Azercell Telecom’ LLC, expressed the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. She remarked on Azercell’s pledge to expand eco-friendly technologies and renewable energy solutions while minimizing environmental impact. Highlighting the significance of supporting global climate initiatives, Zeynalova emphasized Azercell’s role in setting a new standard for corporate leadership and contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future.
Narmin Jarchalova from COP29 Azerbaijan expressed excitement over
Azercell’s involvement, noting the company’s influential role in the telecommunications sector as Azerbaijan’s largest mobile provider. Jarchalova emphasized Azercell’s progress in advancing crucial discussions around technology and their commitment to supporting climate action through this partnership.
Azercell’s sustainability efforts focus on reducing carbon emissions, optimizing energy usage, and enhancing water and fuel efficiency through various environmental initiatives. Since 2017, the company has been deploying solar-powered base stations across Azerbaijan, with 35 green base stations already operational in the Karabakh region, powered by renewable energy for 60% of the time.
The company is also a member of several global climate initiatives, including the UN Global Compact and the GSMA Climate Action Taskforce. Through these memberships, Azercell actively promotes sustainable development and encourages other market players to intensify their environmental efforts. This year, Azercell released its
first ESG report, showcasing its environmental, social, and governance achievements.
