Azercell Bolsters IT Skills Among Schoolchildren for International Competitions


BAKU: On October 12, 2024, a qualifying exam was held at the Baku Higher Oil School and in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to select students for international informatics Olympiad preparation groups. The exam identified top students from the final stage of the Republican Subject Olympiads in Informatics of the 2023-2024 academic year to join teams for the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI), the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), and the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI).

According to Trend News Agency, the selection process involved a rigorous four-hour examination where students tackled three complex tasks. The performance evaluations were conducted immediately using an automated system to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Since 2017, Azercell Telecom LLC has actively supported the development of IT skills among Azerbaijani schoolchildren. This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Education and the Institute of Education, has enabled partic
ipants from both the capital city Baku and other regions to achieve significant success on international platforms. To date, Azerbaijani students have garnered a total of 80 medals in various age categories at multiple global programming contests, reflecting the effectiveness of the national training programs sponsored by Azercell.
