Azercell Expands Its Network of Solar-Powered “Green” Base Stations in Liberated Territories

GUBADLI: Azercell, a leading mobile operator, has furthered its commitment to sustainability by launching new solar-powered “green” base stations across several liberated territories, including Gubadli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Aghdam, Lachin, and Kalbajar. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance environmental protection and promote the use of renewable energy sources.

According to Trend News Agency, Azercell has increased the total number of its eco-friendly base stations to 35 in the Karabakh region. These stations, which also include locations in Tovuz and Gobustan, are designed to operate with 60% of their energy needs met through solar power. This significant reliance on solar energy helps reduce carbon emissions and lowers overall energy consumption, aligning with global environmental sustainability goals.

The deployment of these “green” technologies is a critical component of Azercell’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The company aims to not only
minimize the environmental impact of its operations but also lead by example in the adoption of sustainable practices. By expanding its network of solar-powered base stations, Azercell is taking concrete steps towards creating a healthier and more sustainable future for the regions it serves.
