AzerGold and Kyrgyzaltyn Explore Strategic Mining Cooperation in Bishkek

Bishkek: Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, and Kubat Abdraimov, Chairman of the Board of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC, convened in Bishkek as part of AzerGold's delegation visit to the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting centered on discussions related to the Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction signed on July 31, 2026, in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, during the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Council between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. The focus was on exploring mutually beneficial cooperation and potential joint projects in the mining sector.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ibrahimov highlighted the robust friendship and ties between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, which have been strengthened under the leadership of both countries' leaders. These ties provide an advantageous environment for expanding economic relations, particularly in the mining sector. During the meeting, AzerGold shared insights about its experience in geological exploration, mineral resource assessment, and mining processes. Updates were also provided on ongoing geological exploration in Azerbaijan's liberated Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions, as well as on the use of advanced airborne electromagnetic exploration methods.

AzerGold is strategically focused on expanding its international operations, with particular interest in joint mining and geological exploration projects across Central Asia. Ibrahimov expressed readiness to collaborate in the exploration and development of gold and other mineral deposits, employing advanced geological research methods.

Kubat Abdraimov offered an overview of recent reforms in Kyrgyzstan's mining industry, highlighting the company's current project portfolio and the sector's development prospects. He emphasized the mining industry's prominence as a leading sector of the national economy, citing large-scale reforms initiated since 2020 aimed at attracting investment and enhancing international cooperation.

Abdraimov appreciated AzerGold's proposal for cooperation, which was positively received by Kyrgyzaltyn. He expressed optimism that the discussions could unveil new opportunities for collaboration and allow both parties to jointly consider promising existing projects.

The discussions included the potential establishment of joint ventures for prospective deposits, investment models, assessment of geological exploration results per international standards, and financing opportunities for new projects. Both sides agreed to continue discussions to further expand cooperation through practical projects.
