Bahar Muradova Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role in Shaping Urban Development Standards

Baku: 'The hosting of the World Urban Forum 13 in Azerbaijan is of significant importance for participating countries. As a cooperation-oriented country, Azerbaijan has successfully hosted numerous international events focused on key issues on the global agenda,' said Bahar Muradova, Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, during the opening session of the Women's Assembly held as part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Bahar Muradova emphasized that Azerbaijan has strong experience in hosting international events and stressed the importance of sharing it with other countries. She highlighted reconstruction in the liberated territories as a key example, noting that Azerbaijan is rebuilding from scratch with modern standards. The Committee Chair also said that ongoing global conflicts make comfortable urban living, housing access, and digital transformation strategies increasingly important.

Muradova underscored that women and men should participate equally in urban planning, have a say in decision-making, and benefit equally from the outcomes. She noted that the forum provides broad opportunities for setting new urban standards and sharing experiences, adding that Azerbaijan is expected to play a leading role and contribute to shaping new urban development standards.
