Baku: The first online meeting between Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Uzbekistan's Namangan State Technical University (NamSTU) marked a significant step towards potential collaboration between the two institutions. Faculty members from both universities participated in the meeting.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions centered around prospective joint scientific research, academic staff and student exchange programs, and the organization of winter and summer school programs. Both parties also expressed interest in participating in international projects and exploring new partnership formats.
BEU Vice-Rector for International Relations Atraba Gul highlighted the importance of establishing and strengthening ties with leading technical higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. She emphasized that the existing friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, coupled with the capabilities of both universities, present opportunities to enhance cooperation.
NamSTU is recognized for its prominent position in technical education, engineering, and innovation within the region, and its role in organizing scientific research activities was acknowledged. The university's scientific capacity and collaboration with industry were also commended.
The meeting included presentations on the contribution of universities to regional industrial development and their strategic objectives. A preliminary agreement was reached to expand collaborative efforts, submit a joint project to the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan projects competition, and sign a memorandum of understanding between the universities soon.
