Baku: A delegation from Baku Engineering University (BEU) is on a visit to the United Arab Emirates, where they engaged in a meeting with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) to explore potential avenues for collaboration.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, UAEU Vice Chancellor Ahmed Ali Alraeesi recounted their visit to BEU a year prior, emphasizing the strategic value of forming partnerships with BEU. He highlighted that joint research initiatives could play a significant role in developing scientific responses to global issues, particularly those related to climate change, water security, and environmental protection.

BEU Vice-Rector Atraba Gul remarked on the importance of the partnership with UAEU in broadening the university's international scientific connections. She noted that collaborative research in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) would not only enhance the relationship between the two universities but also contribute to advancements in energy efficiency, environmental safety, and sustainable economic growth.

During the discussions, both parties examined current opportunities for cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and innovation, while sharing perspectives on future joint activities. There was a particular focus on collaborative research efforts in four priority areas within three main SDG directions: Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Climate Action.

The meeting concluded with agreements on the subsequent phases of their collaboration, including joint projects, academic exchange programs, and co-authored scientific publications.

UAEU, established in 1976 as the UAE's first national university, offers programs across more than 70 specialties. The university is home to over 160 laboratories and 12 research centers. Recognized as a leading institution in the region, UAEU holds a global ranking of 261st.
