Baku: Baku Engineering University (BEU) has unveiled a series of innovative changes to its undergraduate admission plan for the 2026/2027 academic year. These changes include the introduction of new specialties and dual diploma programs, significantly broadening the academic and career prospects for students. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the number of undergraduate specialties at BEU has increased from 39 to 41, with a total of 2,929 admission places now available. This represents an increase of 344 places compared to the previous year. The allocation includes 1,885 places for the full-time Azerbaijani-language division, 135 for the correspondence (part-time) education form, and 909 for the full-time English-language division. Two new specialties, "Software Engineering" and "International Relations," have been added to the admission plan. The "Software Engineering" specialty will offer 30 places in the full-time Azerbaijani-language division, while "International Relations" will have 25 places in the full-time English-language division. BEU is also implementing dual diploma programs in collaboration with international universities. The dual diploma program with Inha University of South Korea, which began in the 2020/2021 academic year under the "State Program on Enhancing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System for 2019-2023," has been extended until 2030. This program includes specialties such as "Computer Science" (Artificial Intelligence Engineering), "Data Analytics" (Data Science), "Information Technologies," and "Electrical and Electronics Engineering." A second dual diploma program is being developed with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) of China. This initiative includes specialties like "Chemical Engineering," "Computer Engineering," "Mechanical Engineering," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Business Administration." It is the first undergraduate-level dual diploma program between Azerbaijani and Chinese universities, operating on a 2+2 model, w here students study for two years at BEU and two years in China. Additionally, BEU and BUCT have established the "BUCT-BEU Faculty of Engineering," which will use a 3+1 model. Students will study for three years in Azerbaijan and one year in China, earning diplomas from both institutions. This faculty will offer programs in "Computer Science," "Chemistry," "Biotechnology," and "Mechanical Engineering," with instruction provided by professors from both universities. The admission plan also includes specialties such as "Architecture," "Design," and "Decorative and Applied Arts," for which no aptitude examination is required. Furthermore, part-time education is available in nine specialties, including "International Trade and Logistics" and "Tourism Business Organization."
