Baku: Students of the Baku Engineering University (BEU), who are taking part in the "International Summer School on Smart Cities" at the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA), have participated in further scientific, practical, and educational events within the program. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, participants attended a lecture titled "Smart City and Cultural Heritage Revitalization: Scientific Research on the Revival of the Historical Architectural Heritage of the Summer Palace," delivered by Zhang Yingyi, an associate professor at BUCEA. The lecture explained the interrelation between smart city concepts and cultural heritage preservation, using the Summer Palace as a case study. Participants learned about preserving ancient architecture with modern technologies, integrating historical sites into urban life, and sustainable urban development. A presentation by Professor Fu Fan on Chinese landscape architecture followed, focusing on the ecological significance of urban green spaces, cultural heritage protection, and landscape architecture's role in sustainable urban environments. BEU students also visited Shougang Park, an industrial heritage site in Beijing, as part of the program on "Digitalization of Living Cultural Heritage and Joint Preservation of Industrial Heritage Memories." Students explored the transformation of a former metallurgical plant into a modern innovation hub, learning about industrial heritage preservation, digital technologies in historical site presentation, and Shougang Park's significance in urban planning. Another program event featured a lecture by Professor Han Qunli, discussing "UNESCO's Scientific Cooperation for Global Sustainability." The lecture covered international scientific cooperation's importance in sustainable development goals and issues like climate change and environmental sustainability. These programs have significantly contributed to enriching BEU students' theoretical knowledge in cultural and industrial heritage pres ervation, landscape architecture, and urban planning, while exposing them to advanced international experiences.
