Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, welcomed a delegation led by Army General Levent Ergn, the Second Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, during an official visit to Azerbaijan. The delegation participated in the 17th Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Turkish representatives paid respects by visiting the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and prominent ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honor. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs’ Cemetery, where they laid wreaths and flowers to honor the memory of these figures. In addition, a wreath was placed at the Victory Monument in Victory Park.
The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense held a meeting with the Turkish delegation following these visits. Colonel General Zakir Hasanov remarked on the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey, which is based on enduring friendly and fraternal relations. He highlighted the importance of enhancing military cooperation and emphasized collaboration within the Organization of Turkic States.
Army General Levent Ergn expressed appreciation for the organization of the meetings in Baku as part of the Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting. He acknowledged that the relationship between the two nations is founded on mutual trust, confidence, and support.
The discussions encompassed a broad exchange of views on future cooperation prospects in military, military-technical, and military educational fields, as well as regional security and other areas of shared interest.
