Baku: The XXVI International Conference of Heads of Firefighting and Rescue Services of the member countries of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers has commenced at the Baku Marriott Hotel Boulevard.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event marks a significant gathering of over 100 representatives from member countries and partner companies, including delegates from Germany, Austria, China, and several others. Additionally, representatives from Trkiye and Kyrgyzstan participated via videoconference.

The conference began with a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, and the President of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, Internal Service Colonel General Alexander Chupriyan. They discussed cooperation between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Federation, as well as various issues of mutual interest.

The opening ceremony featured performances of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the anthem of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers. Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov delivered a welcoming speech, highlighting the significance of the conference for fostering international cooperation in firefighting and rescue operations.

Minister Heydarov provided an overview of Azerbaijan’s efforts in preventing emergencies and managing their consequences. He emphasized the importance of safety for the population and territories, noting the Ministry’s formation under the guidance of President Ilham Aliyev. The Minister also discussed Azerbaijan’s international rescue operations and humanitarian aid efforts.

During the event, President Alexander Chupriyan expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the conference. He underlined the growing importance of firefighting and rescue professions due to increasing natural and man-made emergencies and stressed the need for continuous professional development.

Chupriyan awarded Minister Heydarov the medal “For Contribution to International Cooperation” from the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers. The conference will continue until December 6, focusing on developing firefighting and rescue sports, analyzing past championships, and discussing future international cooperation.
