Baku: A panel discussion titled “A fairer world is possible” was held in Baku, organized by the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency and the “Stratcom Public Forum”, APA reports. Fahrettin Altun, the director of the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency, highlighted issues in the functioning of the United Nations (UN) in his video address to the event. He emphasized the necessity of reforms within the UN, indicating that the current problems hinder the establishment of global peace. Altun expressed support for events organized under the ‘Stratcom Public Forum’ in 20 different countries and noted that Trkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s approach advocates for UN reforms to facilitate dialogue among diverse societies.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Alptekin Jihangir Ishbilir, media advisor at the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, addressed the challenges the international system faces in ensuring global peace. He emphasized the need for concrete actions and reforms in the world system, pointing out that while several organizations work towards global peace, some global organizations inadvertently fuel conflicts.

Javid Valiyev, head of the department at the International Relations Analysis Center, remarked on the inverse relationship between international relations systems and the provision of justice. He discussed the necessity of forming a new order in interstate relations as the post-World War II order is fading, highlighting the need for justice in the evolving international system.

Vusala Mahirgizi, Director General of APA Media Group, spoke on the critical role of media in achieving global justice. She pointed out that media often escalates conflicts and manipulates information rather than establishing justice. Mahirgizi shared an instance where Azerbaijani media was praised for its balanced coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war, underscoring the media’s duty to provide fair representation.

S?rdar Gndogan, a representative of the Turkish Maarif Foundation in Azerbaijan, discussed educational relations between Trkiye and Azerbaijan. He noted that 136,000 foreign students are studying in Trkiye, including 27,000 Azerbaijanis, and mentioned the foundation’s role in providing scholarships to 70,000 young people across 56 countries.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and the presentation of commemorative gifts to participants.
