Baku: The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the Global South Youth Platform (GSYP) organized a comprehensive videoconference on August 12 to commemorate International Youth Day, BIG informed APA. The event aimed to synchronize international efforts among young leaders from the Global South and explore collaborative international projects.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the virtual gathering, convened on the international day established by the UN General Assembly in 1999, allowed participants to share insights into their organizational activities and priorities. They engaged in discussions on mutually interesting issues, seeking to enhance international cooperation.

The videoconference attracted members and leaders of youth organizations, along with UN Development Programme advisors, from 20 different countries. Discussions focused on establishing and nurturing cooperation between BIG and GSYP, exploring future collaborative prospects, and implementing joint initiatives. Participants highlighted the significance of expanding ties and building sustainable relationships in areas of common interest.

Additionally, the conference explored opportunities for executing joint initiatives and organizing activities at significant global events in the future. An initial exchange of views took place regarding potential cooperation formats, aiming to foster young people's active participation in international arenas, fortify connections among youth from various regions, and engage them in dialogues on globally important issues.

The Global South Youth Platform (GSYP) was founded on May 1, 2026, with organizational support from the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).
