Baku: The 'Baku Marathon 2026,' initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, kicked off on Sunday, bringing together thousands of participants under the slogan 'Win the Wind.' The event marks the ninth edition of this significant athletic gathering.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the marathon has attracted runners from various countries, including Azerbaijan, the U.S., China, Germany, the UK, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Trkiye, and Ukraine. This diverse international participation underscores the event's growing global recognition.
The 42 km course begins at the State Flag Square, with the finish line located in the Sea Breeze area. Additionally, the marathon includes dedicated finish zones for participants competing in the 10 km and 21 km distances. This structured route ensures a comprehensive experience for runners of varying endurance levels.
