Baku: 'Baku has already changed in many ways. Moving away from Soviet traditions, it is becoming a more modern urban center and continues to improve,' said Fariz Azizov, Advisor on Institutional Development to the Chairman of the Board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA), during an event dedicated to the Master Plan of Baku held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azizov emphasized that ensuring mobility in Baku has led to changes in many aspects. He noted the shift of people towards suburban areas and underscored the importance of incorporating technological and demographic data into the urban planning process. He stated that Baku's Master Plan seeks to fundamentally transform the infrastructure to enhance the quality of life for residents, emphasizing that it is crucial to anticipate future needs.

Azizov explained that the Master Plan aims to ease congestion and create a more mobile city by restructuring roads. He stressed that modern urban planning should prioritize pedestrians over cars. 'A modern city should not be designed only for cars; pedestrians hold special importance in our projects,' he said.

He further highlighted the importance of designing cities as 'friends of people,' pointing out that urban mobility contributes significantly to economic development and overall well-being. Azizov affirmed AAYDA's commitment to the 'Baku Master Plan 2040,' aiming to improve the infrastructure and enhance urban mobility in the city.
