Baku Steel Company Awarded 2024 Best Partner by Ministry of Ecology

Baku: ‘Baku Steel Company’ CJSC has been recognized as the ‘Best Partner’ by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan for its outstanding contributions to environmental initiatives in 2024. The accolade was presented by Minister Mukhtar Babayev at a recent event aimed at acknowledging organizations that address ecological challenges.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Baku Steel Company was honored for its significant involvement in tree-planting projects under the ‘Green Future’ platform. The company planted 1,250 trees, including Eldar pine and olive trees, on a 2-hectare site in Mushfigabad and 500 boxwood trees in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park as part of the initiatives aligned with the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Beyond reforestation efforts, Baku Steel Company has engaged in various environmental projects over the years. Last year, anticipating COP29, the company organized the ‘Baku Steel Art 2024’ international metal symposium with QGallery. This event showcased art pieces crafted from BSC’s materials, emphasizing the role of art and metallurgy in promoting sustainable development. The symposium featured works by artists from seven countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, and India.

Additionally, the company is venturing into renewable energy. Through a partnership with ‘Clean Energy Jabrayil’ LLC, Baku Steel Company will utilize solar energy from two upcoming solar power plants, ‘Shams’ and ‘Horizon,’ each with a 50 MW capacity, in Soltanli village. This initiative is set to supply renewable energy to BSC’s production facilities, aiding Azerbaijan’s shift towards green energy.

Baku Steel Company continues to adopt innovative solutions, including digitalizing production processes to enhance efficiency and safety while minimizing environmental impact. These efforts align with BSC’s commitment to advancing Azerbaijan’s metallurgical industry through sustainable practices.
