Baku to Host ‘Neocolonialism and Global Inequality’ International Conference

Baku: An international conference on 'Neocolonialism and Global Inequality', organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), will take place in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event will gather anthropologists and psychotherapists who work directly with indigenous communities affected by neocolonialism, experts involved in creating a Virtual Museum dedicated to colonialism, leaders of independence movements from affected regions, and researchers specializing in neocolonialism.

The conference will explore the traumatic and social experiences of people subjected to colonization across diverse cultural and social contexts. The discussions will also focus on structural issues arising from the historical actions of colonial powers, existing cases of inequality, and improving access to information for documenting, analyzing, and presenting these experiences on an international stage.

The discussions will cover the integration of digital and scientific platforms with virtual systems used by international organizations, as well as ensuring accessibility to experts and legal materials for research teams investigating colonial legacies.
