Ban on export of onions from Kyrgyzstan lifted

The ban on the export of onions from Kyrgyzstan has been lifted. Press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

 

In accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated March 3, 2023 No. 111, the temporary restriction on the export of onions outside the republic was lifted from March 3, 2023.

 

Earlier it was reported that at present the demand of the Kyrgyzstanis for onions is 6,000 tons per month, farmers have stocks of 50,000 tons, which covers the 90-day demand as required by the Law on Food Security.

 

The Cabinet of Ministers imposed a temporary ban on the export of onions on February 1. Then the decision was explained by the provision of food security and containment of prices for socially significant food products, in particular for onions, shallots, leeks and other bulbous vegetables, fresh or refrigerated.
