Tbilisi: Bank reinforcement works are set to commence on the Alazani (Ganikh) River, which marks the boundary between Georgia and Azerbaijan. Four tenders have been announced for the project, aimed at restoring the riverbanks along this crucial border area.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Georgia's Roads Department has revealed that the total cost of the restoration works in the Signaghi municipality will amount to 9.2 million lari. The department emphasized the urgent need for bank protection measures due to the erosion of the Alazani River banks, which poses a threat to both the safety of the area and the stability of the riverbed.
The Alazani Riverbed is not only a natural border between the two countries but also a significant geographical feature requiring careful management. The planned works are therefore of particular importance for the protection of the border area, according to the department's statement.
