Munich: Bayern Munich has broken a significant record by scoring the most goals in a single season across the top five European football leagues in the 21st century. The German team surpassed Real Madrid's previous record, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bayern Munich accomplished this feat during the final match of their national championship, where they defeated Cologne 5-1 at home. This victory brought their total to 122 goals over 34 matches, surpassing Real Madrid's record of 121 goals set during the 2011/12 season.
Bayern's achievement is notable, though it falls short of the all-time record held by Italian club Torino, which scored 125 goals in 40 matches during the 1947/48 season. The top five European leagues, where this record is recognized, include England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.
