Brussels: Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Pr©vot, has voiced his support for Azerbaijan following a drone attack on Nakhchivan, reportedly launched from Iranian territory. On March 31, Pr©vot reached out to Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in a phone conversation that addressed several urgent issues.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the dialogue between the two officials focused on the escalating security situation in the Middle East, the state of bilateral relations, and potential collaboration within the European Union framework. Both ministers expressed significant concern over recent military escalations in the Middle East, underscoring the crucial need for diplomatic resolutions to ongoing conflicts.

During the call, Pr©vot conveyed Belgium's solidarity with Azerbaijan concerning the drone attack and thanked the nation for its role in evacuating Belgian citizens from Iran. The ministers also deliberated on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with Minister Bayramov outlining efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

The conversation concluded with both parties reaffirming the importance of constructive dialogue and existing mechanisms like political consultations and high-level exchanges to strengthen cooperation on mutual interests between Azerbaijan and Belgium.
