Bishkek Hosts 11th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.


BISHKEK: The 11th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, with the attendance of President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The summit witnessed the participation of several heads of state and government, including President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, who extended a warm welcome to President Aliyev and other dignitaries.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Sadyr Zhaparov highlighted the significance of the upcoming COP29 conference, which is set to be held in Azerbaijan. He expressed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to support the Azerbaijani government in hosting this major summit. Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the role of the Organization of Turkic States in uniting Turkic people and proposed efforts towards creating a common Turkic alphabet and enhancing economic relations.

President Ilham Aliyev, in his address, acknowledged the hospitality of Kyrgyzstan and congratulated Kazakhstan on
its successful chairmanship of the organization. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation in defense, security, and the defense industry and announced Azerbaijan’s financial support to strengthen the organization’s capacity. He also highlighted the growth in transit shipments via the East-West transport corridor and the ongoing reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

During the summit, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Trkiye called for continued negotiations for a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure stability in the South Caucasus. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting the COP29 conference. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan and Trkiye for their contributions to Hungary’s energy security.

ies and e-commerce. President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus emphasized the organization’s role in strengthening ties among Turkic nations and reviving the historic Silk Road.
