Yekaterinburg: The bodies of Azerbaijani citizens Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, who were beaten to death by Russian law enforcement on June 2, have been transferred to the airport cargo terminal, APA’s Russia bureau reports. The arrangements for repatriating their remains to Azerbaijan are underway, with a Ural Airlines flight scheduled to transport the coffins at 18:15 local time, expected to arrive in Baku by 20:25.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the bodies were taken from the morgue and handed over to family members, who identified signs of violence, including stab wounds, cuts, and hematomas, especially on Huseyn Safarov’s face and torso. These observations indicate the brutal nature of their deaths.
The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Yekaterinburg is overseeing the retrieval process from the Yekaterinburg Forensic Medical Examination Bureau. The documentation necessary for the handover is being finalized to facilitate the transportation of the bodies back to their homeland. The tragic incident has drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding their deaths and the subsequent handling of their remains.
