Baku: BP has started commercial production of non-associated gas at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field off the coast of Azerbaijan, APA reports. The ACG field, which has been producing oil for nearly three decades, is now venturing into gas production, marking a significant development in the region's energy sector.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ACG field holds estimated non-associated gas resources of 115 billion cubic meters (bcm), equivalent to 4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of recoverable reserves. There is also a potential upside to 6 tcf, positioning the ACG field as a critical integrated oil and gas asset. The commercial gas production commenced with the drilling of the first well from the existing West Chirag platform in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. This development underscores the strategic importance of the ACG field in meeting regional energy demands and contributing to Azerbaijan's energy export capabilities.
