BRICS Summit in Kazan to Address Key Cooperation Areas, Ukraine Discussion Optional: Kremlin


Kazan: While the Ukraine conflict will not be a scheduled topic at the upcoming BRICS summit, participants are at liberty to discuss the issue if they choose, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Peskov’s statements were made in a comment to Izvestia, where he emphasized that the Ukraine issue is not on the official agenda of the summit. “This is not on the agenda of the summit, but every participant can discuss the topic as they see fit,” Peskov said.

The BRICS summit, set to take place in Kazan from October 22-24, will see discussions on a variety of important areas including politics, security, economy, and culture, under the chairmanship of Russia. President Vladimir Putin has outlined the enhancement of cooperation in technology, science, healthcare, environmental protection, culture, sports, youth exchanges, and civil society as key priorities. The theme for Russia’s BRICS chairmanship is “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Se
curity.”
