BTC Pipeline Transports About 619 Million Tons of Crude to World Markets

Baku: The BTC pipeline has achieved a significant milestone by transporting approximately 619 million tons of crude oil to global markets since it became operational. This achievement marks a substantial contribution to the international oil supply chain.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the pipeline, which stretches 1,768 km, has been operational since June 2006 and has carried around 4.7 billion barrels of crude oil, loaded onto 6,145 tankers by the end of 2025. In the year 2025 alone, the BTC pipeline facilitated the export of about 207 million barrels (27 million tonnes) of crude oil, which were lifted at Ceyhan and loaded onto 283 tankers.

The BTC pipeline primarily transports ACG crude oil and Shah Deniz condensate from Azerbaijan. Additionally, it also carries other volumes of Caspian regional crude oil and condensate, including those from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other SOCAR volumes produced in Azerbaijan. In 2025, BTC Co. reported spending around $131 million on operating expenditure and $98 million on capital expenditure, as detailed in bp Azerbaijan's 2025 full year results released on Thursday.
