BTK Railway Line Set to Initiate Oil Product Transport by Year-End

Baku: “By the end of this year, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line will be fully ready for the export of oil products,” stated Emil Mammadov, advisor to the chairman of Azerbaijan Railways, at the “Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum” organized by GLENMAR Group, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mammadov highlighted that oil products are categorized as hazardous cargo, necessitating specific preparations for their transport. He indicated that efforts to meet relevant standards are almost complete.

Mammadov also noted that reconstruction work on the BTK railway line has been finished, which has increased its annual capacity to 5 million tons. He further mentioned that while dry and containerized cargo is currently being transported on the line, the transportation of oil products will commence by the end of the year.
