Bulgarian Delegation Engages in Bilateral Military Discussions in Azerbaijan

Baku: Pursuant to the 2026 Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan signed between the Azerbaijani and Bulgarian Defense Ministries, a working meeting on "Ensuring Internal Security in the Armed Forces" was held, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, as part of the visit, the Bulgarian delegation met with Major General Azer Ibrahimov, Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense. The discussions focused on measures implemented to ensure internal security within the Azerbaijan Army, current initiatives in this field, and possibilities for further developing bilateral cooperation.

The delegation also visited the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense, where they met with Major General Elgun Aliyev, Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations and Chief of the Military Police Department. The guests received a thorough briefing on the history, activities, primary responsibilities, and functions of the Military Police Department.

The discussions included prospects for military police personnel from both countries to engage in joint training activities in the coming years. Additionally, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, addressing the delegation's questions.

The meetings concluded with the exchange of gifts and a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
