Baku: Pursuant to the 2026 Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan signed between the Azerbaijani and Bulgarian Defense Ministries, a working meeting on "Ensuring Internal Security in the Armed Forces" was held, the Ministry of Defense told APA. The meeting aimed to strengthen the military ties between the two nations and ensure robust internal security within their armed forces.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the delegation from Bulgaria met with Major General Azer Ibrahimov, Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense. The discussions centered around measures implemented to ensure internal security within the Azerbaijan Army, ongoing initiatives in this field, and prospects for further developing bilateral cooperation.
As part of their visit, the Bulgarian delegation also toured the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense. They met with Major General Elgun Aliyev, Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations and Chief of the Military Police Department. During this visit, the guests received a comprehensive briefing on the history, activities, primary responsibilities, and functions of the Military Police Department.
The meetings also focused on exploring the potential for military police personnel from both countries to engage in joint training activities in future years. The delegation and their Azerbaijani counterparts exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, and the guests had their questions answered.
The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts and a group photo, marking the commitment to continued collaboration and partnership between the Azerbaijani and Bulgarian defense sectors.
