Cabinet of Ministers approved master-plan of Agdam city

Today Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a decree #305 “On Approval of the Master-plan for Development of the City of Agdam until 2040”.

It should be recalled that Agdam will be developed on the basis of the concept of the “smart city”. Under the document, there will be 1,750 individual houses and 23,000 apartments in Agdam. At that, 30% of the population will live in private houses. In addition to the historic city, the master-plan includes eight villages in the region. The social conditions of the town will allow living here up to 100.000 people.

Forest areas will be created between the inter-village roads. The town will be surrounded by gardens. The city park will occupy an area of 125 hectares. Forest strips will cover 23% of the area of the city of Agdam.

Consequently, Agdam will become one of the major industrial and tourist cities of Azerbaijan. On the way to the railway station, which in the General Plan is planned to be located in the east of the city, large enterprises and one- or two-storey commercial facilities will be put into operation.

Small businesses, tourist bases, hotels for 8-12-20 seats will be built in the city gardens. There will be a canal in the center of the park, and at a distance of 2 kilometers you can take a boat on it. There will be an open-air Museum of Occupation and a mosque in the historic center of the city. Bicycle paths are provided on all roads. New electric streetcar lines are planned, which will run on wheels without rails.

A new square will be built in the center of the city, it will house the city administration and there will be a congress-hall in front of it. Also, designs for 15 schools have been worked out at the suggestion of the Ministry of Education.

In addition to the special secondary schools and lyceums, it is also planned to build up a Karabakh University.
