Caleb Orr Highlights Strategic Energy Partnership Between U.S. and Azerbaijan

Baku: Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, met with a U.S. delegation led by Caleb Orr, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs. The meeting underscored the strategic cooperation between the two nations in the energy sector.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Parviz Shahbazov expressed gratitude to Caleb Orr for his participation in Baku Energy Week. The discussions highlighted that the documents signed during the event signify a new phase in the Azerbaijan-U.S. energy partnership. The partnership, which has been developed over many years, serves as a significant foundation for bilateral relations, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

Both parties acknowledged the impact of projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which have been implemented with U.S. support and have contributed to Europe's energy security. Caleb Orr emphasized the respect with which the United States regards Azerbaijan's role in the global energy market, noting its historical significance as the birthplace of the modern oil industry.

Orr also mentioned that energy, alongside artificial intelligence, digital technologies, infrastructure, and trade corridor development, is a priority in the inaugural meeting of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Economic Dialogue. The talks further explored the involvement of U.S. companies in Azerbaijan's energy sector, the global importance of oil and gas, and new projects with Chevron and ExxonMobil. Additionally, they discussed potential cooperation in energy infrastructure development.

The meeting also reviewed the energy components of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, as well as the potential for collaboration on regional electricity interconnectors.
