Baku: The World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku is providing countries with opportunities to explore new solutions for issues related to housing affordability and homelessness, according to Cheri Reddin, Director General for Intergovernmental and External Partnerships for Housing and Homelessness at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada, in a statement to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Canadian delegation presented insights on the country's current housing market situation, homelessness, and efforts to improve housing supply and affordability during the forum. Reddin emphasized the dual purpose of their participation: sharing Canada's experiences and learning from other nations to apply effective strategies back home.

Reddin highlighted the universal nature of housing and homelessness challenges, noting that no single country can completely resolve these issues on its own. She urged the importance of exchanging best practices and adapting them to suit local conditions.

She mentioned that even adopting one or two key ideas from the forum into Canada's housing policy and financing mechanisms could have a substantial impact. The Canadian official underscored that international collaboration and knowledge exchange are crucial for creating more sustainable and livable cities in the future.
