Ankara: The situation in the South Caucasus will be one of the main topics of discussion during the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said while answering questions from APA's Trkiye bureau. He noted that, along with regional, global and bilateral issues, the situation in the South Caucasus will also be discussed during the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Cevdet Yilmaz emphasized the importance of the South Caucasus. He mentioned that the existing problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan have largely been resolved and that they are now at a stage very close to the signing of a peace agreement. The Vice President also highlighted that one of the main issues on the agenda is the Zangezur corridor.
Yilmaz explained that the opening of the Zangezur corridor will contribute to strengthening ties between Trkiye and Central Asia, while also supporting the development of the Middle Corridor. He noted the desire for this transport route, stretching from China to Europe, to become even stronger.
Cevdet Yilmaz added that Trkiye is making active efforts to achieve lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and to fully normalize Trkiye-Armenia relations.
