Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hosts Azerbaijani Delegation for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Ashgabat: A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, embarked on a working visit to Turkmenistan. This visit is a part of ongoing efforts to bolster the relationship between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation, where discussions centered on enhancing relations based on friendship, brotherhood, and mutual respect. The talks aimed at diversifying economic cooperation, promoting joint initiatives, and expanding regional trade and economic partnerships.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, also met with Economy Minister Jabbarov. The meeting underscored the dynamic growth of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations, fueled by the political will of both countries' leaders. They noted the significance of last month's state visit by Turkmenistan's President to Azerbaijan, which was instrumental in advancing bilateral cooperation.

Key discussions involved priority areas of economic cooperation, including large-scale projects intended to diversify partnerships and explore new opportunities. Minister Jabbarov also engaged in talks with Guvanch Agajanov, where they highlighted the potential of energy resources and discussed transporting these resources to international markets and joint energy projects.

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan's strategic geographic positioning presents advantages for developing international transport corridors. The dialogue emphasized the importance of transport and energy security, with both countries contributing significantly to regional and global agendas.

The visit also focused on humanitarian ties, recognizing events like the Days of Turkmen Culture in Azerbaijan as pivotal in strengthening relations between the two peoples.

Further, Economy Minister Jabbarov met with Nokerguly Atagulyev, Turkmen co-chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission. The discussions included enhancing the Commission's effectiveness, expanding trade and investment relations, and advancing cooperation in various sectors like industry, transport, and tourism.

The 9th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was pivotal, with Jabbarov highlighting the strategic direction set by the leaders of both countries. The Commission is seen as a crucial platform for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and other sectors. Jabbarov expressed appreciation for Turkmenistan's contribution to the mosque complex in Fuzuli, symbolizing the brotherhood between the two nations.

Nokerguly Atagulyev reiterated the foundation of mutual trust and strategic partnership in bilateral relations. He acknowledged the Commission's role in broadening cooperation and expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's gift of the Dostlug oil tanker.

The meeting concluded with a protocol signing, aiming to expand cooperation in priority areas such as trade, energy, and agriculture. Economy Minister Jabbarov's meeting with Rashid Meredov further discussed expanding economic dialogue and business cooperation, alongside exploring joint energy projects.
