Baku: Another mass grave has been discovered in the Agdhara district, as announced by Ali Naghiyev, Chief of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service and Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons. This revelation was made during an international conference focused on addressing the issue of missing persons, held within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ali Naghiyev shared that, despite challenging conditions, the State Commission, alongside experts from relevant state agencies, undertook search and excavation operations three times in 2025 in the Murovdag mountain range in the Kalbajar district. This area is notorious for its difficult terrain and severe weather conditions. Unlike previous years, this year’s efforts were more systematic and supported by drone technology, which led to positive outcomes.

Naghiyev further highlighted that search and excavation operations are ongoing in the Agdhara district. A new mass grave has been uncovered at a site that was once a combat position. Preliminary data suggests that the remains of more than 10 Azerbaijani servicemen have been identified. Participants of the conference are scheduled to visit this site as part of the event program tomorrow.
