BAKU, Azerbaijan, A new railway route bypassing Russia through Azerbaijan has been launched from China to Germany’s Mannheim city, Trend reports via Russian media.

According to the media, the route also passes through Kazakhstan, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, crossing the Caspian and Black Seas using multimodal transportation.

The media said that within the new route the first train loaded with sporting goods was sent from the Chinese Xi’an city on April 13.

“The new route covers countries and regions through which China-Europe trains have rarely passed before. It will allow increased transportation efficiency and reduce respective costs. Besides, this route provides Chinese companies with an opportunity to adapt export to the current situation,” added the media.
