Chinese Communist Party Delegation Engages in Talks with Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis

Baku: On July 21, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, met with a delegation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), led by Kang Shuai, Deputy Director General of Information Research Center of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. The meeting focused on the development of Azerbaijan-China relations and enhancing bilateral interparliamentary and inter-party ties, alongside cooperation in economic trade, educational, cultural, humanitarian, and youth sectors.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the robust relationship fostered by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which underpins the dynamic development of bilateral relations across various sectors. She reiterated Azerbaijan's support for the 'One China' policy and China's territorial integrity, while appreciating China's stance on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Speaker Gafarova highlighted interparliamentary ties as a vital component of the bilateral relationship, noting the successful development of inter-party relations and the high-level political dialogue based on mutual trust. She mentioned the fruitful cooperation between the CCP and the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), emphasizing the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ruling parties, which aims to strengthen these ties further.

Kang Shuai noted the steady development of Azerbaijan-China relations in recent years, attributing this progress to high-level interactions between the leaders of both countries, which have been instrumental in fostering bilateral collaboration.

During the meeting, insights on the bilateral relations were shared by Tahir Budagov, YAP Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office, and Lu Mei, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
