Chinese Renewable Energy Firm Eyes Partnership with Azerbaijan


BAKU: A potential collaboration between Azerbaijan and Chinese renewable energy company TBEA Co., Ltd. is on the horizon as discussions advance towards signing a memorandum of understanding. The two nations are exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation in the renewable energy sector.

According to Trend News Agency, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan revealed the potential partnership following a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and representatives from TBEA Co., Ltd. and PowerChina International Group. During the session, Xin Zhang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TBEA, presented an overview of the company’s capabilities in energy production, engineering services, and infrastructure project financing.

The discussions focused on potential collaboration in manufacturing renewable energy equipment, supplying technology, and participating in regional green energy infrastructure initiatives. The parties are considering signing a memorandum of understanding to formalize this cooperati
on. Furthermore, the dialogue touched upon collaborating within the framework of COP29.

In a separate meeting with PowerChina International Group’s Vice President Yang Yisheng, it was emphasized that the leadership’s policy in both countries seeks to elevate Azerbaijan-China relations to a strategic partnership level, which could foster extensive cooperation in green energy.

The discussions also covered PowerChina’s involvement in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy projects, including a 240 MW wind power plant in Khizi and Absheron and a 100 MW solar power plant auction in Gobustan. Additionally, PowerChina received invitations to engage in various renewable energy projects in the Caspian Sea region, including wind power generation and transmission.
