Chinese TBEA Completes Overhaul of Bishkek Thermal Power Plant Units

BISHKEK: Chinese company TBEA has successfully completed an overhaul of two units at the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant (TPP), a vital energy facility in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, according to Trend reports via Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers. The maintenance work aims to bolster the plant’s reliability and efficiency, ensuring a stable supply of electricity and heat to a significant portion of Bishkek.

According to Trend News Agency, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, visited the thermal power plant to inspect the completed work. He was accompanied by the capital’s mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev, and other representatives from relevant sectors. During the visit, Japarov underscored the critical role of the Bishkek TPP as a cornerstone of the city’s energy infrastructure.

Japarov has directed officials to enhance oversight of the plant’s operations and ensure rigorous monitoring of ongoing repair activities. This directive comes in the wake of
a significant incident earlier this year, when an accident at the TPP on the night of February 1 left most of the city without heat for nearly 24 hours. The recent overhaul by TBEA is part of efforts to prevent such disruptions and improve overall energy security in Bishkek.
