Baku: “Climate changes put women at great risk,” stated Vaira Vike-Freiberga, former President of Latvia and Co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, during a panel discussion titled “Gender – Security – Climate Nexus” at the XII Global Baku Forum.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Vike-Freiberga highlighted that these issues were also a focal point at COP29. She stressed that global events, particularly those related to climate change, disproportionately affect women, and solutions to these challenges remain elusive.
The former president further criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for his dismissive stance on the matter, quoting him as saying that the fight against climate issues is a “money trap,” despite the seriousness of the problem.
