Baku: ‘Unfortunately, the drawing of caricatures of the Prophet of Islam, the burning of the Quran, and attacks on mosques are European realities. In monoethnic Armenia, the destruction of religious monuments in territories historically inhabited by Azerbaijanis is observed,’ said the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade at the international scientific conference themed “Islamophobia: Unveiling Bias and Dismantling Stigmas” held in Baku, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Chairman highlighted that after the deportation of Azerbaijanis from their historical lands in Armenia, more than 300 religious and historical monuments were destroyed. He mentioned that Armenian religious circles have been exploiting the World Council of Churches and Christian fanaticism. As a response to the destruction and deportation, the Caucasus Muslims Office had previously suspended the activity of the Yerevan Qadi, which has now been restored. The Chairman accused Armenia of sowing interreligious discord and leveraging Christian fanaticism against Azerbaijan.

Sheikh-ul-Islam further expressed gratitude for the restoration of the Yerevan Qadi’s activity, thanking the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmat Hajiyev, for his support in this endeavor. He emphasized the importance of respect for religious values and the denial of Islamophobic thoughts and actions, highlighting that the religious monuments currently operating in Azerbaijan symbolize the highest expression of tolerance.
