Commissioner: EU Foreign Ministers to Discuss Development of Relations with Azerbaijan

Brussels: Europe is building better connections with Central Asia through Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Trkiye, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos told journalists ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kos highlighted the European Commission's Black Sea strategy as a pivotal element in strengthening ties between Europe and Central Asia. The strategy includes a focus on connectivity, which aims to link Europe more effectively with countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Trkiye.

Kos pointed out that trade and energy are central to the connectivity agenda. She addressed the challenges faced by trade routes, noting that northern routes have been closed due to tensions with Russia, while southern routes have been affected by the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

The EU is set to discuss enhancing relations with the South Caucasus countries, particularly focusing on Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Trkiye, during the meeting of foreign ministers.
